Dream Home Pt. III: The 'Living Roof' Home in the California Hills

The third selection in our curated dream home series from Trendir is the Kentfield Residence designed by Turnbull Griffin Haesloop Architects. The home is located in Northern California and overlooks Mount Tamalpais and the San Francisco Bay with crazy panoramic views.

The contemporary home was built on a very steep hillside and the Turnball Architects built around the house and catered to it’s slope with curved retaining walls. You can see stairs attached to the retaining wall that lead to the hillside in the third image. The home essentially works with the landscape in order to create a ‘living’ rooftop that merges the home and the backyard (a.k.a. forest).

Overall, we can appreciate this house for it’s open and spacious floor plan, awesome panoramic views, angled ceilings, creative living rooftop, and open decks.
