Sunni Colón Shares “Black Hole Sun (777)”

If you haven’t been paying attention to alternative soul singer Sunni Colón yet, you should do yourself a favor and get acquainted now. The singer follows up his excellent Thierry Disko EP with the track “Black Hole Sun (777)”, a cover of Soundgarden’s original “Black Hole Sun” track. The versatile artist transforms the song into a mellow tune with honest lyrics about his experience as a Black man in the world, before transitioning into a funky outro with lyrics from Dr. Malachi Z. York.

“I was inspired by the current social and political climate of the world. This is my perspective as a black man living through the chaos. I’ve been hurt as a human being on this planet and I’ve realized the earth’s bedlam is simply an image of our own inner turmoil.” – Sunni Colón via The Fader
