AfroPunk Fest took place last week August 27-28 with four different stages at its annual location of Commodore Barry Park in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Revered as a celebration of Black youth and alternative culture that mainstream media tends to miss, AfroPunk is an open-ended celebration of unapologetic individuality. In addition to sets this year from Ice Cube, Gallant, Thundercat, Saul Williams, Laura Mvula, Soulection’s Eden Hagos, and more, the eclectic fashion and faces of festival-goers at AfroPunk were perhaps the most captivating part of the two-day event.
