Dev Hynes and Bryndon Cook Team Up on “Hymn”

Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes and Starchild & the New Romantic’s Bryndon Cook are no strangers to collaboration. The two have been friends and moved in the same musical circles for some time, and Cook provided vocals for Hynes’ most recent album, Freetown Sound, in addition to opening for Blood Orange on tour. Out today on Brooklyn Vegan, “Hymn” is their first official joint release, with which they’ve debuted their new VeilHymn moniker.

The smooth, gentle track kicks off with some of Hynes’ first rate string-plucking, with keyboard and soft percussion building the vibe as Cook takes the lead on vocals, which include some aptly hymnal crooning as well as a few bars on the second verse. Check out the song below.
