Big Sean Masters Love, Perseverance, and Relentless Sacrifice on “I Decided”

Show Love

Big Sean’s new album, I Decided, is perhaps his most evolved body of work. The 14-track project follows up his acclaimed No. 1 album, Dark Sky Paradise, and doesn’t disappoint with top of the line self-starter raps and pounding R&B influence weaved throughout the project. The Detroit star takes motivational rap to an entirely new level with much of his album serving as a polished playbook on how to make something out of nothing and be thankful for it after. Whether he’s rejecting fake help on “No Favors” or persevering on “Stick To the Plan”, he details the ups and downs of battling and conquering demons. You’ll find his most vulnerable side graciously exposed on family-driven tracks like “Sunday Morning Jetpack” and “Inspire Me”, along with one of the album’s prized gems “Jump Out the Window”, a cut about love manifesting into a relationship. The rapper also pays homage to all of the sacrifices that his ancestors made on the track “Sacrifices” with Migos, where the guys offer up hard-hitting rhymes about everything they’ve gone without or given up, to be where they’re at now. While Dark Sky Paradise introduced the serious side of the ‘Don’, I Decided cements Big Sean as a force to be reckoned with.

You’ll find select features from Jhene Aiko, Jeremih, Starrah, The Dream, and more, along with production from Metro Boomin, Detail, Wondagurl, and DJ Mustard. Stream I Decided from Big Sean below or visit iTunes to purchase a digital copy.
