Dreamville Rapper J.I.D Achieves Controlled Urgency on “The Never Story”

Atlanta rapper J.I.D, the latest signee to Dreamville, recently shared his new album, The Never Story, which includes features from 6LACK, Dreamville’s EarthGang, and Mereba. Pivoting at 12 tracks, the talented emcee doesn’t hold anything back with skilled wordplay, equally impressive delivery, and controlled urgency. Whether he’s going full speed with pulsating bars about his family and neighborhood on “LAUDER”, or toning things down with Mereba on the poignant R&B heavy track “All Bad”, J.I.D noticeably brings something different to the table. Slightly melodic, with a bit of influence from J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar, the rapper still shows originality in his sound and narrative throughout the project.
